Maintenance Guide

Monthly Maintenance Checklist​

To keep your site running smoothly and securely, perform these checks monthly.

1. Backups First​

Before doing anything, take a full backup!

  • Go to UpdraftPlus and click Backup Now. Wait for it to complete.
  • Alternatively, use All-in-One WP Migration to export a full file if you are about to do major updates.

2. Core & Plugin Updates​

  • Go to Dashboard → Updates.
  • Update WordPress Core if a new version is available.
  • Select all plugins that have updates available and click Update Plugins.
  • Important: Always check the site's front-end after updating plugins to ensure nothing broke (especially Elementor and Case Addons).

3. Theme Updates​

  • If a Nordic theme update is available, follow the instructions in the Nordic Theme Manual to update it safely (typically via uploading the new zip file).

4. Security Checks​

  • Go to Wordfence → Scan.
  • Run a new scan and review the results. If there are malicious files or outdated plugins flagged, resolve them immediately.
  • Check the Wordfence dashboard for blocked IPs or unusual login attempts.

5. Form Testing​

  • Go to https://site.locomotiondesign.com/contact-us/ and send a test message through the Contact Form 7 form.
  • Ensure you receive the email in your inbox to verify that email delivery is still working correctly.
